HOT DOG REVIEW: World Series of Poker Café Hot Dog
This is the first of a series of reviews of hot dogs at poker venues across the world. Each hot dog will be reviewed and scored on several criteria, including quality of the hot dog itself, cooking and presentation, and price/value.
Introduction
A hot dog was put as an offering on the menu at the World Series of Poker Café for players at Bally’s and/or Paris Las Vegas this summer. The WSOP is said to be the most prestigious poker event in the world, but would the hot dogs offered at the WSOP match the prestige?
The Review
- Quality of Meat - 3/10: The WSOP Café hot dog was simply underwhelming in quality of meat. They did say it was an all-beef hot dog, but it certainly was no premium hot dog.
- Quality of Cooking - 5/10: These hot dogs have nothing in the cooking process that would add any flavor. They’re not charred or seared. They were at least cooked properly.
- Quality of Bun & Toasting - 2/10: The bun was not toasted, but somehow ended up being very dry. Not good at all.
- Quality of Toppings & Condiments - 5/10: The WSOP Café offers Heinz ketchup and relish in individual packets. Yellow mustard was available, but in a big container. There were no onions or other vegetables available to top the hot dogs, nor was there any Dijon mustard or whole grain mustard.
- Presentation - 3/10: The WSOP Café simply sticks the hot dogs in a generic foil bag and serves them on a generic paper plate.
- Price & Value - 1/10: Priced at $14, the hotdog at the WSOP Café is simply not good value for what you are getting. Better hot dogs are sold elsewhere in Las Vegas for far less money. A $14 hot dog should be a premium hot dog, and this isn’t one.
- Customer Service - 7/10: Surprisingly, the checkout at the WSOP Café was fast and efficient. A big contrast to the lines for registration during big events.
Overall - 3.7/10
If you’re looking for a hot dog in Las Vegas, the WSOP Café isn’t a great choice. You’re better off taking a walk to the food court at Bally’s where for $14 you can get two hot dogs and a side of French fries. It's a shame that the premier poker series in the world can't offer better.
